Biography
- Fred is one of the founders of Franke Beckett, LLC and serves as its managing partner.
- He has practiced law for over 50 years, concentrating on the law of estates, trusts and fiduciaries for the past 40+ years.
- His practice includes estate and asset protection planning, estate/trust administration, and fiduciary litigation.
- Fred is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.
- He is past chair of the Council of the Estates and Trusts Law Section of the Maryland State Bar Association.
- Over the years, Fred has presented more than 45 continuing legal education courses for lawyers and judges with the Maryland State Bar Association, the Maryland Institute for Continuing Education of Lawyers, the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, and various county bar associations.
- He has published numerous articles on topics related to his practice in academic law reviews and other legal publications.
- Fred has been included in The Best Lawyers in America (Trusts and Estates) consistently since 2001, listed in the Maryland Super Lawyers (Estate Planning and Probate) consistently since 2007 often being named “Top 50” or “Top 100” lawyers statewide. He has received an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell for more than 40 years.
- He was awarded the 2023 Anne Arundel Bar Association Trustee’s Award for his contributions to the Bar Association and to the legal profession.
Fred has his Bachelor of Arts (History) from Kenyon College, his Juris Doctor from Washington & Lee University School of Law, and his Master of Laws (Tax) from George Washington University School of Law.
